Conversion of a SADI-S procedure to a Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass. Indications, technical details and review of the literature

We present the case of a 46-year-old male with an initial BMI of 44.7, who underwent a laparoscopic single anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S). Postoperatively he developed an anastomotic leak at the duodeno-ileal (DI) anastomosis that would not resolve despite reoperation and bowel rest. A conversion to a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) was performed 14 days after the index case.
