Background: Obesity is a multifactorial disease. Set point theory describes an internal control mechanism that maintains a specific body weight through regulation of appetite and energy expenditure. Can this explain why some patients experience fluctuating weight gain and loss? This abstract will review a case in adolescent obesity that may highlight the set point theory.
