CONCLUSION On the whole, FDA seems very enthusiastic about the possibilities for AI to improve healthcare.  That’s gratifying to see. While progress in the development of a new regulatory approach is slow, that’s also not all bad. It would be worse in many ways for FDA to act precipitously.  These are complicated issues, and it will take time to develop an appropriate approach, in part because it will take time for FDA to acquire enough expertise. And most likely, whatever new approach we come up with will require new statutory authority. That said, it is incumben...

Abstract: The epidemiological data on gingivitis and periodontitis in Latin America are scarce, as the majority of the Latin American studies have analyzed probing depth instead of clinical attachment loss. Reported data have shown high variations in results between different Latin American countries, with the main causes of these differences being the clinical case definition and methodological strategies used. In general, data have revealed that the prevalence of periodontal disease is higher in Latin Americans than in populations in the USA or Europe. Regarding its relations with other diseases and conditions, some Lati...

Abstract: Gingivitis and periodontitis are associated with a negative impact on Oral Health Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL), exerting a significant influence on aspects related to the patients' function and esthetics. Periodontitis has been associated with several systemic conditions, including adverse pregnancy outcomes, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), respiratory disorders, fatal pneumonia in hemodialysis patients, chronic renal disease and metabolic syndrome. The aim of this paper was to review the results of different periodontal treatments and their impacts on patients' OHRQoL and systemic hea...

Conclusions: Approximately, one-fourth of patients developed hyperkalaemia during follow-up which was associated with a lower MRA dose during follow-up. Discontinuation of MRA, but not hyperkalaemia itself, was associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality and heart failure admission in HFrEF patients. In this work, the authors reported the hybrid architecture of carbon nanotube (CNT)–zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowire as a multi-functional probe in amperometric immunosensor for the detection of urine albumin. Low-cost substrate such as glass is possible because of novel low-temperature growth process of CNT/ZnO nanowires as a multi-function electrode in this sensor. Based on Schottky like behaviour this structure exhibit excellent high current density to achieve higher performance. Measurement of urine albumin is a new way for early detection of diabetic and also low concentration of it in culture media is also considered ...

Authors: Holden SE, Habib M, Currie CJ Abstract Objectives: To evaluate central foveal thickness (CFT) variability and accompanying changes in visual acuity (VA) 12 months before and after treatment with the 190 mcg fluocinolone acetonide (FAc) intravitreal implant for diabetic macular edema (DMO).Methods: The Iluvien Clinical Evidence cohort study in the United Kingdom (ICE-UK) investigated the effectiveness of the FAc implant in people treated at 13 hospitals from April 2013 to April 2015. The following parameters were calculated for CFT for each patient: mean, standard deviation (SD), retinal thickness am...
