Is contralateral prophylactic mastectomy for unilateral breast cancer associated with higher complication rates and an increased hospital stay?

I recently read with interest the article by Dr Huang et al.1 This retrospective study compared the complications between patients with unilateral breast cancer who underwent contralateral prophylactic mastectomy (CPM) with those who underwent unilateral mastectomy and concluded that CPM was associated with a greater hospital stay but not related to a greater reoperation rate for complications. I would like to raise the following comments.
