Prevalence of Rheumatic Diseases in Adult Population in Spain (EPISER 2016 Study): Aims and Methodology

ConclusionsSociodemographic and lifestyle changes over the last 16 years justify EPISER 2016. This study will provide current data about the prevalences of RA, AS, PsA, SLE, SS, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, gout and clinical osteoporotic fracture.

ConclusionsThe association of rs4867568 and rs143383 with KOA was successfully replicated in the Chinese Han population. Moreover, rs4867568 was found significantly associated with the severity of KOA. More studies are warranted to explore the functional role of rs4867568 in the development of KOA.Key Points• A novel variant near Lsp1p3 is associated with knee osteoarthritis.• Baseline characteristics of the subjects.• Comparison of the genotype and allele frequency of the Lsp1p3, GDF5, and FTO.• Association of the Lsp1p3, GDF5, and FTO with KOA severity.

BOSTON (CBS) – The Centers for Disease control has cautioned that, based on current patterns, coronavirus is likely to become a global pandemic. With no approved vaccine or medication to treat it, that could ultimately result in overloaded healthcare systems. What is a pandemic? Simply put, a pandemic is a global, widespread outbreak of a new illness. Because it is new, people don’t have the ability to fight it and can be easily infected. The last pandemic to widely affect the United States was H1N1 flu in 2009. The worst pandemic in history was the Spanish flu outbreak in 1918 which killed 50 million people wo...

Authors: Wang NE, Ewbank C, Newton CR, Spain DA, Pirrotta E, Thomas-Uribe M Abstract Objective: Trauma centers provide coordinated specialty care and have been demonstrated to save lives. Many states do not have a comprehensive statewide trauma system. Variable geography, resources, and population distributions present significant challenges to establishing an effective uniform system for pediatric trauma care. We aimed to identify patterns of primary (field) triage and transfer of serious pediatric trauma throughout California. We hypothesized that pediatric primary triage to trauma center care would be positively...
