A scoping review of burn rehabilitation publications incorporating functional outcomes
The continuum of care for people who have suffered burn injuries includes acute, post-acute, and long term or survivorship care. This distribution of care over an extended time period is supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) model in that “health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” [1]. The WHO’s overarching view of health is reinforced by 61 member countries and has not been amended since its inception, supporting the view that it remains generally a ccepted.
