SLU researcher wins $4.5 million in grants to study side effects of chemo, opioids
A Saint Louis University scientist will use $4.5 million in grant money from the National Institutes of Health for separate studies on the side effects of chemotherapy and those from opioids.
Daniela Salvemini, a SLU professor of pharmacology and physiology who focuses on pain research, will use a more than $2.8 million NIH grant to study chemotherapy-induced cognitive impairment (CICI), or so-called "chemo-brain," that can be experienced by cancer patients.
