UA hires heavy hitter for vice president of research role

Russell Mumper has been named the University of Alabama ’s vice president for research and economic development. Mumper currently is vice provost for academic affairs at the University of Georgia. Prior to that, he led four research centers or institutes, co-founded five startup companies and received nearly $30 million in research grants.
