Pelvic lymph node radiation provides significant benefit for prostate cancer patients

(American Society for Radiation Oncology) The first report of a large international clinical trial shows that, for men who show signs of prostate cancer after surgical removal of their prostates, extending radiation therapy to the pelvic lymph nodes combined with adding short-term hormone therapy to standard treatment can extend the amount of time before their cancer spreads. Findings will presented in a news briefing today at 12 p.m. from the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Annual Meeting.
