ConclusionOur study showed that the microfluidic technique does not change fertilization, CPR, and LBR during IVF treatment for couples with unexplained infertility. Despite the fact that the total number of grade 1 embryos after ICSI treatment and the surplus number of grade 1 embryos after embryo transfer were higher in the microfluidic technique group, the study was not powered to detect this difference.Trial registrationNCT02488434

It can be difficult to treat infertile patients, especially when they have very unrealistic expectations of what medicine can do for them. This is because their feelings range wildly all the way from one end of the pendulum - false hope, to the other end - false despair.False hope is the expectation that I'm going to get pregnant if I do IVF ; or that IVF has a 100% success rate .Patients who do IVF treatment with this false hope will often go to pieces when their cycle fails , because they're not able to build up the courage to try again . Because they had such high (unrealistic) expectations , they cannot deal with the fr...

We describe, to our knowledge, the first case worldwide of livebirth following uterine transplantation from a deceased donor in a patient with MRKH syndrome. The results establish proof-of-concept for treating uterine infertility by transplantation from a deceased donor, opening a path to healthy pregnancy for all women with uterine factor infertility, without need of living donors or live donor surgery.FundingFundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo and Hospital das Clínicas, University of São Paulo, Brazil.

In my experience, most people dealing with infertility would say that their longing for a child brings sadness year-round. Still, there are times and seasons when the pain intensifies. This may be in spring or early summer when the world is in bloom, winter coats are off and pregnant bellies are out, when greeting card companies and florists ambush airwaves to promote Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Similarly, the winter holidays present an ever-lengthening stretch during which many women and men who are struggling with infertility feel pummeled. Bookended by Thanksgiving and New Year’s, this has become a ...

The world’s first baby born by a uterus transplant from a deceased donor is healthy and nearing her first birthday, according to a new case study published Tuesday in the Lancet. Uterus transplants have become more common in recent years, resulting in 11 live births around the world. But all of the other successful deliveries so far have been made possible by living donors — often women who opt to donate their uterus to a close friend or family member without one. The birth resulting from the case detailed in the Lancet, which took place at Brazil’s Hospital das Cli╠ünicas last December, is both the first...

In this study, we focus on the effect of alterations in the expression of the AKT/AMPK/mTOR signalling pathway in mouse uterine tissue after embryo loss induced by harmful environmental exposure to carbon disulfide (CS2). CS2 is a material used in certain production processes, and women are sometimes exposed to it in occupational settings. We created an animal model of gestating mice exposed to CS2 on gestation days 3 (GD3), 4 (GD4), 5 (GD5) and 6 (GD6) with various corresponding endpoints after the exposure. The uterine tissue was collected according to the endpoint time series to detect the expression levels of mTOR, p-m...
