Posterior Vertebral Endplate Fractures: A Retrospective Study on a Rare Etiology of Back Pain in Youth and Young Adults

Posterior lumbar vertebral endplate fracture occurs with avulsion of the ring apophysis from the posterior vertebral body. Although this has been described in adolescents and young adults, proper diagnosis is often delayed or missed entirely. Surgery may be curative.

However, the components of SNAREs complex involved in spinal nociceptive processing remain largely unknown. Here we found ...

The objective to non-ACT strategies circles back to mindfulness. If you are more focused and engaged in positive uplifting activities, then you are less focused on what your bully is trying do to you.  The less reactive you are to the hurtful statements generated by your bully, the less intense critical thoughts and judgmental statements will appear over time. Pacifying your inner bully will provide you with a sense of empowerment and control. It offers a platform to choose whether to entertain your bully and its shenanigans, or to just notice it, laugh, and keep moving on with your day. In the end, the whole objectiv...

Objective The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of the inclusion of neural mobilization into a motor control exercise program on pain, related disability, neuropathic symptoms, straight leg raise, and pressure pain threshold in lumbar radiculopathy. Design This is a randomized clinical trial. Methods Individuals with low back pain, with confirmed disc herniation, and lumbar radiculopathy were randomly assigned to receive eight sessions of either neurodynamic mobilization plus motor control exercises (n = 16) or motor control exercises alone (n = 16). Outcomes included pain, disability, neuropathic sym...

AbstractPurposeTo define and analyze the learning curve of percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal decompression (PETD) for lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS).MethodsFrom July 2015 to September 2016, 78 patients underwent PETD; one of whom was converted to open surgery, two were lost, and 75 were included in this study. Clinical results were assessed by using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and visual analog scale (VAS). The learning curve was assessed by a logarithmic curve-fitting regression analysis. Of these 75 patients, 35 were defined as the “early” group, and 40 were defined as the “late” group ...

Camerota Lower back pain is an extremely common health problem and globally causes more disability than any other condition. Among other rehabilitation approaches, back schools are interventions comprising both an educational component and exercises. Normally, the main outcome evaluated is pain reduction. The aim of this study was to evaluate not only the efficacy of back school therapy in reducing pain, but also the functional improvement. Patients with lower back pain were clinically and functionally evaluated; in particular, the timed “up and go” test with inertial movement sensor was studied be...

Conclusions: Aside from ROM preservation at both C2-7 and TDR levels, COR restoration from ventrocranial location close to normal coordinates by posterior and inferior shifts was marked as a clinical success after MCTDR. The COR position along the x-axis after MCTDR was an important factor to determine maintenance of C2-7 ROM. PMID: 31940714 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
