Floating kidneys associated with Eisenmenger syndrome
A 54-year-old man with ventricular septum defect and Eisenmenger syndrome was admitted with right flank pain after minimal trauma. Imaging by contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed massive perirenal fluid (18 × 14 × 20 cm, left kidney) and hematoma (12 × 8 × 17 cm, right kidney) with active bleeding on the right side (Figures 1 and 2, Supplementary Figure S1). The left kidney appeared markedly compressed by the subcapsular fluid. Intraarterial angiography identified contrast extravasation from a peripheral branch of a mid-segmental artery and the vessel was occluded with a coil (Supplementary Figure S2).
