Failure to develop new therapies in AHF – is it time to de-focus from congestion?

In the current issue of the Journal, Hamo and colleagues review the standard therapeutic targets in acute heart failure (AHF) and discuss the dissociation between these targets and the successful development of new therapies for AHF (1). The main question we are faced with is: how can we improve on this dismal track record?
