Authors: Gong T, Zhou B, Liu M, Chen X, Huang S, Xu Y, Luo R, Chen Z Abstract RAB18, a member of the Ras family, has been suggested to play a critical role in multiple biological process. However, its functions in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain unknown. In the present study, the expression and biological role of RAB18 in HCC were investigated. Results showed that the expression level of RAB18 was significantly increased in HCC tissue specimens and HCC cell lines. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that high RAB18 expression was correlated with poor overall survival compared to those wit...

In this study, we aimed to further discuss the role of Mel in HCC and investigate the correlation of autophagy with the effect of Mel in HCC cells. Methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay and flow cytometry were used to detect the viability and apoptosis of HCC cells, respectively. To examine the changes of autophagy in HCC cells treated with Mel, transmission electronmicroscope (TEM) and immunofluorescence detection were adopted. Finally, we used western blot method to detect the changes of pivotal proteins in autophagy and mitochondrial apoptotic pathways. The results of MTT assay and flow cytometry revealed that Mel co...

Publication date: Available online 22 March 2019Source: Journal of Pharmaceutical AnalysisAuthor(s): Hanaa Rady, Sohair Salem, Mohamed Ez El-ArabAbstractCancer recurrence and severe side effects of currently being used chemotherapeutic agents reduce their clinical efficacy. Thus, there is a constant need to develop alternative anticancer drugs. Sustainable supply is an important challenge facing marine-based drug discovery. Primmorph, a 3D cell culture system, could provide a sustainable source to produce metabolites for anticancer drugs from marine sponges. In the present work, the anticancer activity of primmorph extract...

ConclusionAlkannin exerted anti-tumor activities by downregulation of miR-92a. This process might be executed by inactivating PTEN/PI3K/AKT signal pathways through the binding effects of miR-92a on PTEN.Graphical abstract

Discussion: Incomplete septal cirrhosis is an uncommon cause of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. Its definition is not well known, morphological and pathophysiological. We have not found published cases of post-RT ascites secondary to this pathology, described as possibly associated with drugs, immune alterations, infections, hypercoagulability and genetic predisposition. Diagnostic and prognostic value of mRNA expression of phospholipase C β family genes in hepatitis B virus‑associated hepatocellular carcinoma. Oncol Rep. 2019 Mar 14;: Authors: Wang X, Huang K, Zeng X, Liu Z, Liao X, Yang C, Yu T, Han C, Zhu G, Qin W, Peng T Abstract Four phospholipase C β (PLCB) isoforms, PLCB1, PLCB2, PLCB3 and PLCB4, have been previously investigated regarding their roles in the metabolism of inositol lipids and cancer. The present study aimed to explore the association between PLCB1‑4 and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Data from 212 patients with hepatitis B virus‑...

LncRNA AWPPH promotes the proliferation, migration and invasion of ovarian carcinoma cells via activation of the Wnt/β‑catenin signaling pathway. Mol Med Rep. 2019 Mar 14;: Authors: Yu G, Wang W, Deng J, Dong S Abstract The oncogenic role of the long noncoding RNA associated with poor prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (lncRNA AWPPH) was reported in various types of malignancies; however, its involvement in ovarian carcinoma (OC) remains unknown. Thus, the present study investigated the role of AWPPH in OC. The expression of AWPPH in tissues and serum acquired from patients with OC, and healt...
