Stigma Surrounds Addiction Treatment for Pregnant People in Indian Country

Discusses the issue of opioid misuse disorder among pregnant women on Native American reservations and the stigma related to seeking treatment while pregnant. The rate of drug-related deaths among Native Americans and Alaska Natives is nearly twice that of the general population and in 2015 they had the highest rates of death from drug overdose of any ethnicity. Also touches on efforts on reservations in Minnesota and Wisconsin to address these issues.
