Perspectives on Culture and Diversity: Insights From Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists Who Are Mothers and Racial or Sexual Minorities

The disparities in mental health care in the United States emphasize the importance of all mental health providers, including child and adolescent psychiatrists, enhancing their skills in providing clinical care, training mental health providers, including fellows in child and adolescent psychiatry, and doing research. The literature and personal and professional experiences of child psychiatrists will provide insights. The special situation of mental health services for the gender minority mother and family, the African American mother and family, the immigrant mother and family, and the Asian mother and family will be presented.
