The Multiple Faces of Deportation: Understanding the Challenges and Becoming Part of the Solution for Asylum Seekers, Mixed Status Families, and DREAMers

DREAMers (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors), unaccompanied minors, asylum seekers, and children from families with mixed status present with complex psychosocial and legal circumstances. Changes on immigration policy and the uncertainty about an upcoming reform have amplified the underlying struggles for these youth. This Clinical Perspectives aims to provide child and adolescent psychiatrists with a better understanding of the needs of these vulnerable populations and with useful knowledge to be applied to clinical and advocacy efforts.
