17.3 The Evidence for Psychotropic Medications in Adolescent Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa

Although medication is rarely the first-line treatment for eating disorders, there are some indications for psychotropic medication for eating disorders, and the presence of an eating disorder does affect psychopharmacologic decision making. Participants will learn the following: 1) current evidence for psychotropic medications for anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa; and 2) factors to consider when prescribing medication for comorbid mental health conditions in patients with eating disorders.
