Catastrophic Events in 2017: A Comparative Approach to Unique Challenges and Recovery From Disasters in the United States

This Clinical Perspectives will present the similarities and differences among 3 disasters of 2017 that occurred in different settings and context. The first presentation will discuss the needs of people who as tourists suffered from a mass shooting in Las Vegas and were forced to return home as a result. The second presentation will discuss the professional disabilities among practitioners of child psychiatry in the aftermath of a natural disaster in Puerto Rico, Hurricane Mar ía. The third presentation will demonstrate evidence-based and multimodal strategies that are developed to attend to the emotional needs of communities after Hurricane Harvey.
