48.4 Complex Cases: Diagnostic and Pharmacologic Treatment Strategies in Tic-Related OCD

The majority of patients with Tourette ’s disorder (TD) will have psychiatric comorbidity, most commonly ADHD and/or OCD. Other repetitive behaviors, as well as affective disturbances, including depression and non–OCD anxiety, are also common in this population. OCD with tics appears to have a different “endophenotype” and medica tion response compared with OCD without tics. The aim of this presentation is to highlight the complexities of clinical diagnosis and treatment in youth with co-occurring tics and OCD symptoms and to provide an overview of evidence-based medication treatments for tic-related OCD.
