2.3 Stratifying at Risk Youth With Psychosis Spectrum Symptoms
Major mental illnesses, including psychosis (schizophrenia, bipolar I disorder, psychotic depression), tend to onset in the late teenage years to mid-20s and are often functionally disabling with a high risk of suicide. Most research focuses on fully diagnosed adults, but an alternative strategy is to study a wider range of psychosis spectrum symptoms (PSS) in youth. The Philadelphia Neurodevelopmental Cohort (PNC) is a large population sample group (aged 8 –21 years) with multimodal neuroimaging, genetic, cognitive, and behavioral data.
