Radiotherapy Modulates DNA Repair Efficiency in Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells Of Patients With Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

DNA repair analysis using the γ-H2AX assay in peripheral blood lymphocytes previously demonstrated the capability to predict individual radiosensitivity in a retrospective patient cohort. Now, in lung cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy, we report modulation of DNA repair in response to fractionated radiotherapy. This pheno menon is intriguing, and has implications for predicting severe radiotherapy-related adverse effects.
