Differences in Physician Compensation between Men and Women at United States Public Academic Radiation Oncology Departments

Compensation differences between men and women have been demonstrated in many medical fields. Using public compensation databases and internet sites, we performed univariate and multivariable analyses to determine whether physicians at United States public academic radiation oncology departments were compensated equally between genders. Mean salary was $26,458 (6.4%) less for women than it was for men after accounting for other factors associated with higher compensation.
