CONCLUSIONS: Differed strategies still accounted for a small percentage of treatments. PR and RT/BT were of choice in patients with localized stages of the disease and younger than 70 years. More advanced stages and older patients were treated with HT mainly. Age is postulated as the main factor involved in therapeutic decision making. PMID: 31223124 [PubMed - in process]

Objectives: Lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) is a known prognostic factor for endometrial carcinomas. However, LVSI as a determinant of treatment benefit has not been fully elucidated. Methods and Materials: Data from the National Cancer Database for endometrial cancer from 2004 to 2012 was obtained. Univariate and multivariate analysis was performed to assess the impact of LVSI on overall survival (OS). Survival analysis was performed utilizing log-rank and Kaplan-Meier analyses. The difference in OS between external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) and vaginal brachytherapy (VBT) in LVSI-positive patients was analy...

Interstitial brachytherapy (ISBT) can be effective for vaginal tumors due to its ability to deliver conformal treatment with 3D planning. As there is no consensus for 3D vaginal brachytherapy (BT) contouring, the goals of this study are to evaluate the variability in practices and contouring, and to develop consensus concepts on target definitions.

Despite the advances in the primary prevention of cervical cancer, there is an absolute increase in the incidence of cervical cancer as a result of an increase in world population. A vast majority of patients in low and low –middle income countries continue to present at a locally advanced stage, necessitating treatment with chemoradiation and brachytherapy. There is a dearth of equipment and trained professionals for the treatment of cervical cancer, especially in low and low–middle income countries.
