ConclusionsResults suggest that the novel exposure approach may decrease social distress, but not necessarily influence speech fluency. These findings underscore the importance of the assessment and treatment of SAD among adults who stutter and suggest that the integration of care between clinical psychologists and speech-language pathologists may prove beneficial for this population.

Meanwhile, the gas adsorption or desorption process may lead to temperature or heat variation. In order to reveal this phenomenon, the relationship between gas adsorption (and desorption) and temperature of three different coal samples was experimentally investigated under different temperatures, coal ranks and equilibrium pressures. It’s found that gas adsorption quantity, gas adsorption ra...

In this paper we present a range of mathematical programming models and a workflow that support decision makers in planning an emergency response system. For the models that are difficult to solve directly, we introduce a tailor-made solution method. With respect to the optimization objectives and constraints, we pa...

Conclusions: Walking speed can be used to accurately screen for frailty in CKD populations. If it is not practical to perform a physical assessment to screen for frailty, the Clinical Frailty Scale is a useful alternative.Nephron

Hereditary forms of distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA) are rare and mainly caused by mutations in ATP6V1B1, ATP6V0A4 and SLC4A1. About 20 mutations in SLC4A1 gene have been found that are related to either autosomal dominant (AD) or autosomal recessive dRTA. AD dRTA often manifest as constitutional and can easily be delayed in diagnosis and treatment. A 30-year-old male patient has a history of paroxysmal paralysis for 7 years, presenting with mild hypokalemia, alkalization of urine, normal blood PH value and increased urinary calcium. Patient ’s father has similar presentations but never came to the hospital. We f...

Mutations in theCTNS gene encoding the lysosomal membrane cystine transporter cystinosin are the cause of cystinosis, an autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disease. More than 140CTNS mutations have been reported worldwide. Recent studies have discovered that cystinosin exerts other key cellular functions beyond cystine transport such as regulation of oxidative state, lysosomal dynamics and autophagy. Here, we review the different mutations described in theCTNS gene and the geographical distribution of incidence. In addition, the characteristics of the various mutations in relation to the functions of cystinosin needs to...

Context: Human kidney organoids are complex structures resembling nephron arrays, which can be derived in a variety of ways. Whether all of these differentiation protocols produce qualitatively similar organoid cell types is not yet clear.Subject of Review: A comparative analysis of 2 organoid differentiation protocols is recently reported inCell Stem Cell [Wu et al.: Cell Stem Cell 2018;pii:S1934-5909(18)30491-0], using single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) as an analytical tool. This demonstrates that the 2 protocols have much in common, and that neither produces kidney cells in a pure or comprehensive manner. Ureteric ...
