Effects of glutamine and alanine supplementation on muscle fatigue parameters of rats submitted to resistance training

Muscle fatigue designates biochemical changes occurring within the skeletal muscle cell, which reduce strength and power, impairing physical performance [1,2]. One of the main causes of this phenomenon is the reduction of energy substrates for the continuity of the exercise, evidenced by increased concentrations of enzymes and metabolites from the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) metabolism, such as adenosine monophosphate deaminase (AMPD), xanthine, and hypoxanthine, and by the decrease of energy stores, such as glycogen.
