Virtual touch IQ elastography in evaluation of Achilles tendon in patients with chronic renal failure

ConclusionThe thickness and stiffness of tendon can be effectively evaluated with sonoelastography. The thickness of the Achilles tendon did not significantly differ between the patients with CRF and healthy subjects. However, the stiffness of the Achilles tendon measured with VTIQ elastography was demonstrated to be increased in the patients with CRF.

ConclusionPreviously dialysis was standard, currently it is oriented by efficiency criteria. The ascension of the PA paralyzial is a paradox and several factors are incriminated: water overload, fast UF, short sessions, arterial rigidity, anemia. The use of an ideal dry weight and long hemodialysis allows a Significant improvement in blood pressure control through better control of extracellular volume (ECV). In addition, there is a lack of morbidity and mortality studies among dialysis patients as well as a clear definition of blood pressure targets in this group of patients forgotten by the studies.

In conclusion, the incidence of complications following RA was comparable between the 1.25-mm and the 1.5-mm burrs as the initial burr for IVUS-uncrossable lesions. The present study provides insights into the selection of an appropriate burr for IVUS-uncrossable lesions.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the patency rate of Brescia–Cimino arteriovenous fistulas constructed under microscopic guidance. We retrospectively evaluated the records of patients with chronic renal failure who received a Brescia–Cimino arteriovenous fistula between 2014 and 2015 for hemodialysis access. Preoperative venography and Doppler mapping were used to evaluate vein diameter at the wrist. Veins with a diameter of>2 mm were chosen. End-to-side microanastomosis was performed using Nylon #9-0 suture under microscopic guidance. Postoperatively, monthly follow-up (first with venography; with Dopp...

This study from Herzog et al (from our own Hennepin County Medical Center) included patients from a national registry and compared 3049 patients on dialysis admitted and eventually found to have acute MI compared with 534,395 patients not on dialysis admitted with an eventual diagnosis of acute MI. Of these groups, only 22% of dialysis patients had an admission diagnosis consistent with acute MI while 43.8% of nondialysis patients had the correct admission diagnosis of acute MI.  Dialysis patients had double the rate of cardiac arrest (11% vs 5%), were less likely to receive reperfusion therapy when eligible (47% vs. ...

CONCLUSION: This case shows that percutaneous transluminal angioplasty for an arteriovenous fistula may induce subclavian steal syndrome, and a modified graft inclusion technique was useful in improving the high flow of an arteriovenous fistula. PMID: 29529969 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Bueno AF, Lemos FA, Ferrareze ME, Santos WAMD, Veronese FV, Dias AS Abstract INTRODUCTION: Patients on chronic hemodialysis tend to lose lean body mass and have sedentary behavior. OBJECTIVE: To compare the level of physical activity and the morphology of the muscles pectoralis major and rectus abdominis of patients on hemodialysis with healthy subjects. METHODS: We studied 17 patients and 17 healthy individuals. Muscle thickness were evaluated by ultrasound, and the level of physical activity by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), long version. RESULTS: The patients had l...

J PandiarajaIndian Journal of Nephrology 2017 27(6):475-477Spontaneous splenic hematoma is one of the rare and life-threatening complications of chronic renal failure. The diagnosis of splenic hematoma is mostly made by imaging such as ultrasound or computed tomography. The management of spontaneous splenic hematoma is not standardized till now due to the rarity of this condition. Splenectomy is recommended in hemodynamically unstable patients with features of shock. This is a case report of spontaneous splenic hematoma in a patient with chronic renal failure. This case is reported due to the rarity with renal failure.
