Evaluation and characterization of tumor lysis syndrome before and after chemotherapy among pediatric oncology patients in Tikur Anbessa specialized hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

ConclusionThere was high incidence of TLS irrespective of socio-demographic variation among study participants, suggesting that children with cancer are at risk of developing TLS. As TLS is a life-threatening complication of malignancies, early identification of patients at risk and reducing morbidity and mortality is crucially important.

ConclusionsMSI was detected in a higher proportion of CRC patients than previously reported for other non-Hispanic populations. MSI was an independent prognostic factor for OS, but did not predict the efficacy of cytotoxic treatment with Fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy.

Here we obtained outer-membrane vesicles (OMVs), a nano-sized proteoliposomes naturally released by Gram-negative bacteria, from attenuated Klebsiella pneumonia and prepared doxorubicin-loaded OMVs (DOX-OMV). Conclusions This review highlights the breadth of strategies that aim to preserve a patient ’ s bladder while still optimizing local tumor control and overall survival. Future areas for innovation include the use of predictive biomarkers and implementation of immunotherapy, moving the field towards patient-tailored care.

Conclusions: The addition of induction or consolidation chemotherapy to standard neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy results in a higher pCR rate. Given that the comparative analysis was derived from few randomized publications, large confirmatory trials should be carried out before a strong recommendation is made in favor of TNT.

AbstractGastric cancer (GC) is the second main cause of cancer ÔÇÉrelated mortality worldwide. The poor prognosis and survival of GC are due to diagnosis in an advanced, noncurable stage and with a restricted response to chemotherapy. GC is usually monitored in an advanced stage; therefore, the poor prognosis and lower level of survival rate with a restricted r esponse to chemotherapy can be detected. Valuable and sensible biomarkers are urgently needed to display screen patients with a high risk of GC that can complement endoscopic diagnosis. Such biomarkers will enable the efficient prediction of the therapeutic response...

Authors: Totzeck M, Rassaf T Abstract Cardiotoxic side effects can significantly limit the quality of life and survival of tumor patients under treatment. Acute and chronic effects include hypertension, venous and arterial thromboembolic events, acute and chronic coronary syndromes, heart failure and arrhythmias. Patients with previous cardiovascular diseases are often more frequently affected by side effects. The triggers are not only irradiation and conventional chemotherapy but increasingly also newer forms of cancer treatment. These include targeted therapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). The goals of o...
