Intramucosal Metastasis of Gastric Cancer to the Duodenum

A 74-year-old man received systemic chemotherapy for advanced gastric cancer for 11 months. After 4 courses of chemotherapy, the supraclavicular and para-aortic lymph node metastases had become smaller, and surgical resection of the primary tumor was scheduled. Fluorodeoxyglucose –positron emission tomography was performed for preoperative restaging of cancer. Fluorodeoxyglucose–positron emission tomography (Figure A) detected a significant accumulation of glucose analogues in the duodenum, in addition to the primary tumor of gastric cancer and lymph node metastasis.
