Ambitious for change? We ’re recruiting up to six new trustees

Alcohol harm affects millions of people across the UK, from the risky middle-aged drinker who knows he shouldn’t be drinking every night to the dependent drinker struggling to regain her independence, from the child growing up in a chaotic household to the family bereaved by a drink driver. But none of this is inevitable. Change can and must happen. We are the major charity formed from the merger of Alcohol Research UK and Alcohol Concern and we work to significantly reduce serious alcohol harm through a comprehensive approach: research, policy and action. Our new name, brand and strategy will be publicly launched in mid-November. We intend to appoint up to six new trustees to join our dynamic and engaged board at an exciting time of huge potential in the field of alcohol harm reduction. You’ll be strategic, a team player and an experienced networker with a commitment to our vision, mission and values. You’ll be looking for a trustee role that uses your skills and experience but that also stimulates and stretches you, and that will be genuinely rewarding. In particular, you’ll be able to bring one or more of the following elements to the charity: Skills in academic research Experience of developing or influencing government policy Experience of working as a commissioner or provider of alcohol treatment Skills in fundraising Skills in communications and marketing, especially digital marketing Legal skills The time commitment is 4-6 days a year for meetings plus gener...
