Abstract
Embedded medium-sized carbacycles and cyclohepta[b]indoles are frequently occurring scaffold elements in natural products and bioactive compounds. Herein, we reveal a conceptionally novel photochemically triggered cascade process to these scaffolds. The cascading ring expansion process rests on an unprecedent intramolecular alkyne-de Mayo reaction.
