CoelhoAbstractIn this work, the Cr-rich region of the Cr-Si-B system have been experimentally investigated on arc-melted alloys in order to build the liquidus projection. The determination of the liquid-solid equilibria has been based on microstructural characterization of the as-cast alloys by using scanning electron microscopy and X-rays diffraction. Six primary solidification regions associated to the alloys were identified: Crss, Cr2B, Cr3Si, Cr5B3, Cr5Si3 and CrB. Two ternary type II invariant reactions were identified: Liq+Cr5B3↔Cr3Si+Cr2B and Liq+CrB↔Cr5B3+Cr5Si3 designated by II1 and II2, respectively. Two ternary eutectics I1 and I2 corresponding, respectively, to Liq↔Crss+Cr2B+Cr3Si and Liq↔Cr5Si3+Cr5B3+Cr3Si were also proposed.
