Perioperative antibiotics should be used for placement of implanted central venous ports: A propensity analysis evaluating risk

ConclusionThe current findings are consistent with our previous research, suggesting a reduction in CRI with the use of PABX. Since a CRI can result in treatment ranging from a course of oral antibiotics, port removal, to admission for profound sepsis, we suggest clinicians consider these data when considering PABX in this high-risk population.
