Aspects of nanomaterials in wound healing. Curr Drug Deliv. 2018 Sep 18;: Authors: Chakrabarti S, Chattopadhyay P, Islam J, Ray S, Raju PS, Mazumder B Abstract Wound infections impose a remarkable clinical challenge that has a considerable influence on morbidity and mortality of patients, resulting in huge impact on economy. The unprecedented advancements in molecular biology have come up with new molecular and cellular targets that can be successfully applied to develop smarter therapeutics against diversified categories of wounds. In the recent years, nanotechnology has achieved a new horizon in the arena of wound care due to its ability to deliver plethora of therapeutics into the target site. In addition, nanomaterials being a controlled-release formulation not only reduce the dosing frequency but also improve the patient compliance through improved tissue regeneration. Therefore, development of multi-functional nano-wound care formulations has acquired major attention due to their improved physical protection, optimal moistening conditions, and sustained-release properties. In the present article, an attempt has been made to deliver the best and latest information on wound care formulations in order to increase the knowledge of the scientific community. The review provides an overview on wound care formulations, and areas in need of attention, such as novel discoveries and their future perspectives. PMID: 30227817 [PubMe...
