Growth effects of combined psychotropic regimens

The past decades have seen an increase in the use of psychotropic medications in children and adolescents. Side effects of these agents have been well-described, such as appetite suppression and poor weight gain in youth being treated with stimulants and rapid weight gain in children being treated with atypical antipsychotics. However, youth with complex mental and behavioral disorders are often treated with combinations of psychotropic agents and the potential for side effects particular to these combinations are less well-understood.
