Outcomes After Second Hematopoietic Cell Transplant for Children and Young Adults with Relapsed Acute Leukemia
For children with acute myeloid (AML) or lymphoblastic (ALL) leukemia who relapse after their first allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT), treatment options are limited. Although a second HCT is an option, its outcome is dependent on morbidities experienced from initial and salvage chemotherapies, as well as the first HCT, performance status, interval between first HCT and relapse and disease status at second HCT.1-8 These reports have largely focused on adults with acute and chronic leukemia, with only modest inclusion of children.
