American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Preparedness Guide for Disasters and Emergencies

With the hurricane season upon us, this nine-page guide from the AAFP will help you create plans for personal preparedness. Included in the guide are checklists, inventories, and a preparedness assessment. Topics include: creating a disaster, evacuation and communication’s plan, preparations for financial needs, such as making sure you have cash on hand, and recovering from a disaster.  One tip to consider is to designate “in case of emergency” (ICE) contacts in your phone directory. It is suggested to use the following format: ICE (name of contact).  Many smart phones allow you to designate ICE contacts in the settings. This guide is a great addition to your disaster and emergency preparedness resources.
