Multimodal Perioperative Analgesia Regimen: All Clear?

I read with great interest the article by Donahue et  al1 in a recent issue of the Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing. The authors performed an implementation study on patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty and concluded that implementing a standardized evidence-based multimodal analgesia regimen and patient-educational video resulted in improved mobilization, reduced opioid consumption, and reduced length of stay. The authors should be congratulated for performing a well-designed study on an important topic (eg, acute pain) in patients undergoing surgical procedures.
