Cambridge nursing home staves off closure under deal with new operator
Cambridge-based Sancta Maria Nursing Facility has signed a contract to be operated by Advocate Healthcare Management, an arrangement that will save the 134-bed nursing home from closure and allow almost all of its 200 employees to keep their jobs.
Sancta Maria, a nonprofit nursing home owned and operated by the Daughters of Mary of the Immaculate Conception, had told the state's Department of Public Health in mid-August that it planned to close by Dec. 31, citing mounting operating losses.
