Conclusions: Inhalant abuse results in negative energy balance, persistent growth impairment, and endocrine changes suggestive of adrenal insufficiency. We conclude that adrenal insufficiency contributes to the negative energy balance phenotype, potentially presenting a significant additional health risk for inhalant users.
