ConclusionLa chirurgie ouverte pour adénome de la prostate est la plus pratiquée dans notre contrée. Cependant nous avons noté de bons résultats, mais émaillés de quelques rares complications. La chirurgie endoscopique doit être développée afin de minimiser le taux de morbidité.AbstractPurposeTo assess morbidity and mortality after open prostatectomy for benign prostatic hyperplasia by the transvesical approach.Patients and MethodsWe performed a prospective, descriptive study covering a period to November 1st, 2014 to April 30th, 2016. During this period 76 patients underwent open prostatectomy for benign prostate hypertrophy with Hrynstchak technique. All patients were evaluated clinically by using the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and by rectal examination. They have all had a check of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), a suprapubic ultrasonography and preoperative investigation. The incidents and accidents were noted.RésultsThe mean age was 69.3 years (range to 42 – 98 years). In all, 52 patients (68.42%) presented with obstructive and irritative symptoms; 37 patients (48.68%) presented with acute urinary retention. The average volume of the prostate as measured by suprapubic ultrasonography was 104.7 cm3 (range to 35 – 285 cm3). Before operation 48 patients (63.16%) had transurethral catheterization. A simultaneous repair of inguinal hernia was done in 26.3% of cases. The average operating time was 61.5 ± 12.09 minute....
