Takeda to close Deerfield headquarters, affecting 1,000 workers

Takeda Pharmaceuticals said it will close its U.S. sales office in Deerfield, affecting 1,000 workers. The deal comes on the heels of Japan-based Takeda's $62 billion offer to buy Shire Plc of Ireland. Takeda said the Deerfield job cuts will come whether or not the deal for Shire takes place.
