BorrisAbstractFour previously unreported compounds, 4-hydroxycoumarin-4-β-D-apio- furanosyl- [1 →6]-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), methyl-6’-(2″O-β-D-glucopyran -osyl benzoyl)-2-O-β-D-glucopyransyl-benzoate (2), 6’-(2-methoxybenzoyl)- salicylic acid-2-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (3), and 2′,7-dehydro-3’- (2-methoxy- benzoyl)- 2-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-salicylic acid-6′-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4), were isolated from n-butanol fraction of a methanol extract of Aethionema armenum Boiss. Structures of these four compounds were elucidated from 1D and 2D NMR and CD data and high resolution mass spectral analyses. The well known flavonoid glycosides, quercitrin and afzelin, were also isolated from this sample. The chemotaxonomic significance of these compounds are discussed.
