Dysfunctional Attitudes or Extreme Response Style as Predictors of Depressive Relapse and Recurrence after Mobile Cognitive Therapy for Recurrent Depression

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is predicted to be one of the lead causes of burden by 2030 (Mathers  and Loncar, 2006). The high burden attributable to depression is not only due to acute episodes of the disorder, but also due to its chronic nature. Individuals with a history of MDD have a high risk of relapse or recurrence and this risk increases with each subsequent episode (Bockting, Hollon, Jarrett, Kuyken,& Dobson, 2015). Therefore, identifying variables that place individuals at risk for both acute and recurrent episodes is essential.
