Swiss Advanced Vision launches Harmonis customizable IOL

Swiss Advanced Vision said yesterday it launched its Harmonis customizable intraocular lens system designed for cataract surgery. The newly launched system features advanced extended depth of focus optical technology, the Neuchatel, Switzerland-based company said, and a web-based configurator ophthalmologists can use prior to surgery to select optimal lens parameters. The web-based configurator offers selectable parameters for light ditribution ratios of near, intermediate and distance vision, reading distance and extended depth of focus, Swiss Advanced Vision said. “By expanding our product portfolio with the launch of Harmonis, we are able to offer ophthalmic surgeons and their patients a greater level of flexibility and control by allowing them to choose the best fitting optical configuration based on a stable and proven platform,” CEO Max Boysset said in a prepared statement. In April, Swiss Advanced Vision said it was looking to raise some $21 million for its R-TASC program to develop a wireless, auto-focus intra-ocular lens.
