Open Conversion for Failed Endovascular Repair With Sac Expansion: A Mini-Series

Multiple endovascular adjuncts exist to halt aortic sac expansion or endoleaks in patients who have undergone endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). Despite the wide breadth of such available tools, persistent endograft failure may necessitate open conversion. As the EVAR population ages, endograft failures present in older patients and are increasingly more challenging. Many surgeons encounter these complications in the post-training setting. It is beneficial to communicate experiences and techniques with colleagues to better prepare the surgical community to handle these cases which inevitably will present to our emergency departments.
