Syneron Candela acquires Denmark ’ s Ellipse

Syneron Candela said today it acquired Danish medical device firm Ellipse for an undisclosed amount. Ellipse produces Intense Pulsed Light and laser-based platforms intended for use as medical and aesthetic skin treatments, Wayland, Mass.-based Syneron Candela said. Key products from the Danish company include the Nordlys IPL multi-application, multi-tech IPL and the Nd:YAG platform designed for vascular and pigmented lesions, as well as hair removal. Other products include an IPL-based system for skin rejuvenation, facial veins and hair removal as well as a fractional non-ablative laser system intended for use in skin-resurfacing, Syneron Candela said. “We are excited to join forces with Candela and market our strong technology platforms via Candela’s expansive global footprint, along with its commitment to clinical excellence, quality and innovation,” Ellipse CEO Jacob Larsen said in a prepared statement. “The acquisition of Ellipse allows Candela to strengthen its footprint in the multi-application space and  provide our customers a comprehensive portfolio.
