10 Sick Passengers Taken to Hospital After Plane from Dubai Quarantined at JFK

Ten passengers have been taken to the hospital after a plane with more than 500 people aboard was quarantined upon landing at John F. Kennedy Airport Wednesday. At least 100 passengers complained of illness, with symptoms including cough and fever, on Emirates Flight 203 from Dubai, Benjamin Haynes, a spokesperson for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Infectious Disease Media Team, said in a statement provided to TIME. Emirates said that about 10 passengers on the flight “were taken ill.” “On arrival at JFK, as a precaution, they were immediately checked by local health authorities, and those needing medical attention will be attended to,” the airline said in a statement. “All other passengers will be disembarking shortly.
