In this study, we investigated the expression and functional role of lncRNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 20 (SNHG20) as well as its underlying mechanism in NSCLC. Our results showed that SNHG20 was significantly up-regulated in NSCLC tissues and cells. High SNHG20 expression was implicated with poor prognosis in NSCLC patients. Moreover, SNHG20 knockdown suppressed proliferation, migration and invasion, and induced apoptosis in NSCLC cells. Furthermore, SNHG20 could function as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to elevate ZEB2 and RUNX2 expression by sponging miR-154. Rescue assays revealed that miR-154 inhibition could ...

The objective of this literature review is to evaluate the current research on molecular pathways and genes involved in oral cancer. Articles on the genes involved in oral cancer pathways were evaluated to identify potential biomarkers that can predict survival. In total, 36 articles were retrieved from internet databases, including EBSCO Host, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct, using the keywords "biomarker of oral cancer," "pathways of oral cancer," "genes involved in oral cancer," and "oral cancer pathways." A total of 36 studies related to OSCC were chosen. Most of the s...

Authors: Vrba R, Vrána D, Neoral Č, Melichar B, Aujeský R, Tesarikova J, Cincibuch J, Zapletalová J, Jínek T, Stašek M Abstract Introduction: Respiratory complications (RC) including respiratory failure and adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) affect the outcomes of esophagectomy substantially. In order to decrease their incidence, identification of important features of RC is necessary. Aim: To evaluate the incidence and risk factors of postoperative RC following hybrid esophagectomy. Material and methods: The retrospective analysis of consecutive hybrid esophagect...

Authors: Cacciamani GE, Porcaro AB, Sebben M, Tafuri A, Rizzetto R, De Luyk N, Ciochetta E, Processali T, Pirozzi M, Amigoni N, Corsi P, Brunelli M, De Marco V, Artibani W Abstract BACKGROUND: To assess the anatomical prevalence and secondary involvement of Cloquet's nodes in patients undergoing robotic radical prostatectomy (RRP) and extended pelvic lymph node dissection (ePLND) for prostate cancer (PCa). METHODS: RRP and ePLND were performed by two expert surgeons (WA and VDM). Data were prospectively collected and retrospectively analysed. Dissected pelvic lymph nodes were sampled according to an anatomical ...

CONCLUSION: All provinces and one territory have made progress in regulating the indoor tanning industry, particularly by prohibiting youth and using warning labels to communicate risk. Legislative gaps should be addressed in order to better protect Canadians from this avoidable skin cancer risk. PMID: 30767854 [PubMed - in process]
