As these properties are critical for cancer growth, the mitochondrion has recently become an attractive target for anti-cancer therapies. In addition, it has come to light that mitochondria are crucially involved in the regulation of stem cell identity, differentiation and fate....

Authors: Di C, Zhang Q, Wang Y, Wang F, Chen Y, Gan L, Zhou R, Sun C, Li H, Zhang X, Yang H, Zhang H Abstract Exosomes are nanoscale vesicles shed from all cell types and play a major role in communication and transportation of materials between cells due to their ability to transfer proteins and nucleic acids from one cell to another. Analogous in size and function to synthetic nanoparticles, exosomes offer many advantages, rendering them the most promising candidates for targeted drug or gene delivery vehicles. Exosomes can also induce chemoresistance or radioresistance of tumor cells. Studies about the related m...

Tsoong has wide range of pharmacological effects, including anticancer effects. In the present study, the anticancer activity of Tsoong and its potential molecular mechanisms were investigated. Using high throughput sequencing the apoptotic pathway was ranked as one of the most important pathways and the differential expressions of apo...

Multifunctional nanoparticles in particular have been designed for targeted cancer therapy by modulating their physicochemical properties to be delivered to the target and activated by internal and/or external stimuli. This review will focus on the fundamental “chemical” design considerations of stimuli-responsive nanosystems to achieve favorable tumor targeting beyond biolog...

Abstract Self-hardening calcium phosphate cements present ideal bone tissue substitutes from the standpoints of bioactivity and biocompatibility, yet they suffer from (a) weak mechanical properties, (b) negligible osteoinduction without the use of exogenous growth factors, and (c) a lack of intrinsic antibacterial activity. Here we attempt to improve on these deficiencies by studying the properties of self-setting Fe-doped bone-integrative cements containing two different concentrations of the dopant: 0.49 and 1.09 wt% Fe. The hardening process, which involved the transformation of Fe-doped β-tricalcium pho...

In this study, immunohistochemistry was performed to examine the expression of GARP and Foxp3 in 19 human PTC tissues (including 10 cases with and 9 cases without lymph node metastasis) and 20 benign thyroid diseases (including 10 cases with nodular goiter and 10 cases with adenoma). Compared with benign thyroid diseases, we found a significant increase in the expression of GARP in PTC. Increased GARP expression in PTC was positively correlated with increased expression of Foxp3, which is very important for development of Tregs. But, there is no significant association of elevated expression of GARP with lymph node metasta...

Although these proteins, referred to as externalized proteins, represent a highly promising source of accessible and druggable targets for cancer therapy, the mechanisms via which they...

ConclusionThis cohort has demonstrated late ‐stage presentation of skin cancers, with substantial morbidity and mortality from potentially treatable cutaneous malignancies. This parallels other health conditions in Indigenous Australians and has highlighted the need for improved data collection of Indigenous status to better quantify the ep idemiology of skin cancer in this population. There is an imperative to improve skin cancer awareness in this population to allow earlier detection and management to ensure better outcomes.
